DYNAMICS OF VIOLENCE
Based on research and practice, we can identify three dominant models of violence dynamics in relationships – periodic, chaotic, and random. The dynamic that occurs in the majority of violent relationships is the accidental dynamic. The second most common is the chaotic dynamic. The fewest number of women experience the regular dynamic, that is, the dynamic known as the Cycle of Violence. These investigations are based on the investigation of the degree of linearity (directness) vs. non-linearities in everyday violence between partners, identifying their specific dynamic patterns and determining the interrelationship between the degree of severity and the dynamics of violence.
